 FAA Issues Final Rule Amending Repair Station Regulations
FAA’s Final Rule 14 CFR, Parts 43, 91, and 145 amends the FAA’s repair station regulations to allow the FAA to deny an application for a new repair station certificate if the applicant or certain associated key individuals had materially contributed to the circumstances that caused a previous repair station certificate revocation action. The rule also adds a new section prohibiting fraudulent or intentionally false entries or omissions of material facts in any application, record, or report made under the repair station rules, and provides that such actions are grounds for imposing a civil penalty and suspending or revoking the related certificate, approval, or authorization. According to the FAA, these changes are necessary as current repair station rules do not presently provide such safeguards. The agency believes both these changes will enhance safety by reducing the number of individuals in the repair station industry who commit intentional and serious violations of the regulations or who demonstrate they are otherwise unqualified to hold repair stations certificates. NATA Joins Letter to DOT Secretary In Support of Third Class Medical
On Friday, August 15th, NATA joined other general aviation associations in a letter to DOT Secretary Anthony Foxx, urging the department to finalize a review of the FAA’s Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) addressing third class medical certification reform. The letter points out that the FAA has had ample opportunity to evaluate the safety aspects of changes to the Third Class Medical outlined in the NPRM and that by implementing the proposed changes, more pilots will have the opportunity to fly without the expense and frustration of the medical certification process, while maintaining safety as the number one priority.

Participate in NATA Flag Pins for Veterans Project – NATA Welcomes Stuart Jet Center to the Project
NATA is working with industry to raise charitable donations for organizations supporting America's veterans. NATA members are asked to participate by displaying American-made flag pins in their operations with signage suggesting a donation of at least $1.00 per pin. The funds for this project will be collected periodically through NATA. The project will run through October 2014 culminating in a check presentation to the veterans organizations. Western Aircraft Expands in Boise
Western Aircraft recently held a ribbon cutting celebration in honor of its most recent expansion at Boise Airport. The company added two new buildings totaling 26,000 square feet to its 18-acre leasehold. The new construction includes an expanded parts facility, as well as a two-story infill building that houses support shops for Western Aircraft’s services operation. Click here to read further.
