NATA Continues Efforts to Protect GA Access in New York City Area
NATA is continuing its work with members and other industry stakeholders in response to the FAA’s proposal to impose slot limits on unscheduled operations at JFK and EWR. Currently unscheduled operations at JFK and EWR, including Part 135 on-demand and Part 91 general aviation operations, are not subject to hourly limits and NATA believes the agency’s rationale provides insufficient justification for such onerous restrictions on general aviation. NATA strongly encourages its members to review the proposed rule and submit comments by May 8th that highlight the proposal’s detrimental impact to your operations in the New York City area. NATA will hold a related coordinating call with interested members this Thursday, April 16th, at 2:00 p.m. Contact Jacque Rosser at jrosser@nata.aero for call-in details.

NATA Announces 2015 Aviation Maintenance Technicians Employer Recognition Award Recipients
Last week, NATA announced the recipients of the 2015 Aviation Maintenance Technicians Employer Recognition Award (AMT). AMT awards are presented annually to companies that employ AMTs and provide them on a yearly basis a minimum number of hours of new and recurrent training. Award winners receive either a one, three or five star award depending on the percentage of employed AMTs meeting the minimum training requirements. This year NATA granted 51 awards, up from 38 last year. Four companies are receiving the one star award, one company is receiving the three star award and 46 companies are receiving the five star award. All of the award winning companies will be recognized at the NATA Industry Excellence Awards Luncheon held in conjunction with the 2015 Aviation Business Conference in June. Please Help Provide Accurate Information on Aviation Activity and Aviation Safety
The 37th annual General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey (GA Survey) for reporting on calendar year 2014 is underway. The FAA’s annual GA Survey is the only source of information on the general aviation fleet, the number of hours flown, and the ways people use general aviation aircraft. These data help to determine funding for infrastructure and service needs, assess the impact of regulatory changes, and measure aviation safety. The GA Survey is also used to prepare safety statistics and calculate the rate of accidents among general aviation aircraft. Previous years’ survey results can be found here. If you were selected to complete this year’s survey, you should have received a postcard invitation to participate. You can complete the survey online, or a survey form will be mailed to you along with a postage-paid envelope. Questions? Please contact Tetra Tech toll-free at 1-800-826-1797 or email infoaviationsurvey@tetratech.com.
