NATA Urges Full Funding of Programs to Recruit and Train Aviation Maintenance Technicians
|
|
NATA, along with a coalition of 40 other leading aviation organizations, urged the Trump administration to seek full funding of $10 million for programs to recruit and train aviation maintenance technicians. These programs were part of the FAA reauthorization bill and must now get funding through the appropriations process before the Department of Transportation can start providing grants.
We are pleased that President Trump has made career technical education a priority. These programs will help achieve the administration’s workforce development goals as long as the money is included in the administration’s proposed budget, which will be sent to Congress in February.
NATA and the coalition, representing a broad cross-section of the industry, signed onto the letter to the White House and the Secretary of Transportation in support of both the technician and pilot programs and remain committed to continuing to make a strong case for funding of these programs.

Update Regarding NATA’s Compensation Survey
|
|
Unfortunately, we did not receive enough completed surveys from FBOs to make NATA’s Compensation Survey statistically accurate for 2018. We are working to do the initiative again in 2019 and are taking steps to have a statistically accurate number of FBOs to make the survey results meaningful.
At this time, we are asking for all members to help not only NATA, but also the industry by participating. This survey is vital to a company’s profitability by assisting with the management of labor costs and aiding with employee recruitment and retention efforts. The survey provides valuable information that the industry uses to ensure compensation is competitive within the industry. The results of the report are only as good as the quality of the data submitted and the number of companies that respond, please make every effort to participate.
To get started, participants will need an access code and the necessary compensation/benefit information that can be found on the survey outline. Interested parties should contact jlegere@nata.aero. Participating companies will receive a complimentary copy of the survey results.
We hope you will take time to complete this survey so that you and others within the community will benefit from this valuable information. Thank you to all who have already participated.

NATA Names New Board of Directors Members
|
|
Today, NATA released an announcement on the election of three new members to its Board of Directors: Marc Drobny, President, StandardAero in Scottsdale, AZ; Geoffrey Heck, SVP of Operations, Signature Flight Support in Minneapolis, MN; and Mike Magni, President, Monaco Air Duluth in Duluth, MN.
"We are pleased to add these exceptional new members to our Board," stated NATA President Gary Dempsey. "NATA relies on the capability and commitment of the Board of Directors to guide the Association as it grows. Help the FAA Provide Accurate Information on Aviation Activity and Safety

The General Aviation and Part 135 Activity Survey is underway! The FAA’s annual GA Survey is the only government source of information on the general aviation fleet, the number of hours flown and the ways people use general aviation aircraft. The data helps determine funding for infrastructure and service needs, assess the impact of regulatory changes and measure aviation safety.
If you were selected to complete this year’s survey, you will receive a postcard invitation to participate. You can complete the survey online or submit the survey form that was mailed to you in the postage-paid envelope. Your responses will be used for statistical purposes and will not be published or released in any form that would reveal an individual participant.

NATA to Participate on Free February 13th Industry Webinar on Hangar Foam Systems

This Wednesday, February 13th, at 2 PM EST, NATA’s Managing Director of Safety & Training, Michael France, will be joining a webinar hosted by Willis, Towers, Watson addressing inadvertent fire foam discharges in aircraft hangars and the numerous risks and issues these systems present.
Hangars are a critical component of aviation businesses and over the years, inadvertent activations of fire foam suppression systems have resulted in significant damage to aircraft and have cost the aviation industry and insurers millions upon millions of dollars.
In this webinar, you will:
- Understand current efforts by the National Air Transportation Association (NATA) to change the fire codes that require installation of fire foam systems in aircraft hangars

The Certified QC Inspector Workshop will provide attendees with a comprehensive advanced education in everything fuel handling related. On April 23-24 (Ft. Worth, TX) and September 10-11 (Van Nuys, CA), attendees will enhance their knowledge on fuel characteristics, filtration, sampling and testing, maintenance, and setting up a conformant inspection program.
