For a fifth year, Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) commemorated its busiest week of the year with a festival. From April 3^rd-10^th, "Spring Fest" will entertain travelers entering the main terminal gate area with different local musical acts performing one or more sets. "The week of the Masters is historically one of the busiest weeks at AGS. This provides the perfect venue for artists to showcase their talent and entertain the thousands of people visiting Augusta," Airport Executive Director Herbert Judon said. The annual Masters Week surge hit record levels at Augusta Regional Airport and smaller regional airports last year with a 9 percent increase regionally over 2015, according to Federal Aviation Administration data. The airport typically sees a month's worth of air traffic during the period, and an increase at its FBO, where hundreds of private jets arrive for the tournament. “This year, Augusta Regional will close a taxiway to create an additional 200 aircraft parking spots for Masters Week,” said Ken Hinkle, the airport's Aviation Services Director.
