Record Attendance Expected for the 2018 Aviation Leadership Conference | November 6-7 in DC
|
On November 6-7, senior aviation leaders will convene in Washington, D.C. to hear from top aviation government officials and industry experts. The Aviation Leadership Conference (ALC) offers many opportunities to network and interact in meaningful discussions on enhancing operations and addressing aviation business issues. Conference attendees will also meet NATA's new President, Gary Dempsey.

Justice Department Involvement in FAA’s Illegal Charter Case Spotlights Consequences for Aircraft Owners

Last week, NATA and its Illegal Charter Task Force outlined continuing efforts to increase awareness of the dangers posed by illegal activity and educate aircraft owners, consumers and operators on the importance of compliance with safety regulations. In a move that highlights the serious consequences when aircraft are found to be operated illegally, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has referred a high-profile enforcement action to the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO).
“Such a referral is not common and speaks to the significance of the violations,” stated NATA’s Director of Regulatory Affairs John McGraw. “The FAA’s decision to involve the Justice Department sends a clear message to aircraft owners and the industry that the government takes noncompliance seriously; particularly when unauthorized air carrier operations occur.”
“This case should give all aircraft owners pause and demonstrates that engaging in illegal timesharing, participating in improper leasing schemes or establishing so-called flight department companies creates significant risk for aircraft owners,” said McGraw. “We are pleased to see the FAA taking action to ensure aircraft are operated in accordance with the applicable safety regulations and we expect to see more in this area as our Task Force continues its outreach efforts.”

Fuel QC Management System November 15th Webinar | Hear and See Benefits of The Latest Features

On November 15th, NATA will host a webinar at 2 p.m. Eastern on the Safety 1st Fuel QC Management System (FQMS) — a cloud-based digital tool for general and business aviation fuel quality management inspections, record keeping and auditing.
The Safety 1st FQMS webinar will include a live demonstration showing how FBOs and other aviation businesses enhance the visibility and accountability of their QC process. Attendees will also learn about the newest features of the system since our initial launch earlier this year, including the addition of an inspection platform for GSE (ground service equipment) maintenance.

NATA Safety 1st Recap: Long Island Advanced Line Service Workshop
|

Last week, NATA wrapped up another successful Advanced Line Service Workshop (ALS) at Mid Island Air Service in Ronkonkoma, NY. ALS workshops include a unique mix of technical and service training with sessions on Motivation and Leadership, Customer Service, Spill Prevention Control and Counter Measures (SPCC), and how Human Factors impact safety in aviation ground handling. Attendees heard from John Leonard of Facet Filters and Reed Fuller of World Fuel Services, who led sessions on aviation fuel filtration, quality control and misfueling prevention.

Aeroplex/Aerolease (VNY) Announces Environment-Friendly Commitment

Last week, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) joined with local elected leaders and aviation executives to further embrace sustainable energy with the announcement of solar power generation at Van Nuys general aviation Airport (VNY). VNY business tenant Aeroplex/Aerolease Group showcased the recent operational launch of its solar rooftop and canopy installation. This is the first at VNY and six other business tenants also unveiled their solar energy project commitments.
In addition, a coalition of international aviation organizations recently announced that an event will be hosted at VNY in January to reaffirm the general aviation industry's commitment to advancing the development and adoption of Sustainable Alternative Jet Fuel (SAJF). Hawthorne Global Aviation Services to Open New Corporate Facility

Today, Hawthorne Global Aviation Services announced there will be a corporate hangar and office facility opening in November 2018 at Chicago Executive Airport. This project increases Hawthorne’s total leasable space at KPWK to nearly 75,000 sf for business and corporate aircraft operators. David Annin, General Manager of Hawthorne Global Aviation Services (KPWK) said, “The addition of the newly constructed corporate hangar and office facility will allow us to better meet the demands of our corporate tenants based at our Chicago facility. The Air Charter Safety Foundation Announces the Addition of Vaerus Aviation and ACI Jet to Its Aviation Safety Action Program

This month, ACI Jet joined the Air Charter Safety Foundation’s (ACSF) Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP). The ASAP program provides a process and platform for flight crew members to voluntarily self-report actual or potential safety risk without the worry of retaliation. At its core, the program seeks to gain as much insight into the real world of flight operations at every level and to encourage open discussion for the creation and improvement of training and flight policies and procedures. ASAP provides a systematic approach for employees of aviation companies to promptly identify and correct potential safety hazards. To accomplish this objective, ACI Jet joined the ACSF ASAP program, which holds the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the FAA.
The Air Charter Safety Foundation (ACSF) also announced that Vaerus Aviation joined the ACSF. Along with 177 other companies, Vaerus Aviation supports the ACSF’s vision to enable the highest levels of safety in personal and business aviation through the promotion and facilitation of risk management programs. Vaerus Aviation has the shared attitude among their team members that safety above and beyond what is considered regulatory must be a core value for their company. The entire operation utilizes a safety management system to assess and mitigate risk. Vaerus has a comprehensive pre-flight risk assessment process that ensures strict adherence to international aviation safety standards. “We are delighted that they will be participating in the ACSF-ASAP program as well," said ACSF President Bryan Burns.
